3 What are the reasons for nose bleeds?
There are many causes of nose bleeds in general with climatic change being the prime reason. Usually, nose bleeds happen due to excess heat in temperatures during summers when the air is hot and dry. Some more reasons for nose bleeds include:
- Self-induced nose picking
- Use of blood thinning medications
- Infection
- Too much intake of alcohol
- Hypertension
4 How is tonsillitis disorder treated?
Bacterial infection can be the reason behind tonsillitis, for which your doctor may prescribe antibiotic medicines.
5 What is a tonsillectomy?
Tonsillectomy means the procedure to remove the tonsils. There are three ways to treat and remove the tonsils surgically i.e. cold knife dissection, cauterization and ultrasound. Under the most common method ‘cold knife dissection’, the tonsils are removed with the help of a scalpel. In ‘cauterization’ the tonsil tissues are burnt entirely, while the ultrasound method is used for the treatment of tonsils
6 Do ENT surgeries have any side effects related to voice?
The ENT surgeries probably affect the voice, as nearly all ENT have a direct or indirect influence over voice. Hence, it is recommended to keep the voice-related after-effects in mind at the time of any surgical procedure. Below are a few surgeries that may lead to voice disorders.

7Is the cost of the procedure covered under my health insurance?
After two years of policy registration, many optional surgeries are covered under health insurance. Though, emergency surgeries are covered from the very first day of the insurance policy registration.
8 Will there be any change in my lifestyle after the surgery?
Yes. Depending upon the intensity of the surgery lifestyle does change. However, in general, you will be asked to make following changes in your life style post-surgery:
- Taking meals in time
- Drinking a lot of fluids, especially water
- Shun the intake of spicy food
- Regular inhalation of steam after nose surgery
- Opt for a weight loss regime (if overweight)
